Bottle Gourd in a Spiced Yogurt Sauce

Surprisingly enough I have never tasted Bottle Gourd and saw it at the store and decided to try out a recipe with it. I am a big fan of anything in a yogurt sauce and so decided to make it this way. This is a very easy and delicious recipe. Serve with hot chappatis, paranthas or rice. Bon Appetite :)

Serves: 4
Ingredients:
1 Medium sized Bottle Gourd
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/3 cup dalia (roasted bengal gram)
3-4 dry red chillies
1 clove of garlic peeled
1 tbsp dry coconut
1 cup yogurt
Salt to taste

Method:
1. Grind dalia, dry red chillies, garlic, coconut and salt to a powder in a mixer.
2. Take bottle gourd, peel and cut into bite size pieces.
3. Take a pan add some oil and place on medium heat.
4. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, when they start to splutter add bottle gourd pieces, salt, mix well and cover.
5. Take a bowl and add one cup of yogurt and beat.
6. Add powdered mixture (1 cup approximately, you can add more to taste) and beat well.
7. When bottle gourd is cooked (it will turn from white to translucent) add spiced yogurt sauce and mix well.
8. Cover and leave to thicken while mixing from time to time.
9. Taste and add chilli powder or salt if necessary and mix well.
